Max Length (List Page) does not work for Text

Hello
I am trying to use the Max Length option for a Text field. It does not work. Is that a bug? hier are my settingns for the field type Text in View Tag:

Format: String
String function:
Repalce CR+LF by <BT>:
Max Lenth(List Page): 10

I just tried on my side, and there is no issue regarding the max length.

Please explain "it does not work"! How?

It shows me the entire string on list page. I expect to see the first 10 chars and then ...
Where should I check?

now it is working. I just changed the Edit Tag from "Text" to "TextArea".
