Ctrl + S doesn't fully save (v2022)

I have noticed that if I save my project from the menu, during the save process two dialogues appear momentarily, maybe making a project backup or similar.
However if I hit Ctrl + S (the keyboard shortcut noted in the file menu for saving) the same does not happen. I'm not even sure if it saves at all.
v2022, same issue exists in v2023
